5 choses que vous ignorez (encore) sur le clitoris

5 things you (still) don't know about the clitoris

Still too little known, the clitoris is nonetheless a complex organ essential for female pleasure that will continue to surprise you...

1. The clitoris is larger than one might imagine

The visible part of the clitoris, also called the glans or hood, represents only an infinitesimal part. The major part of this complex organ is found inside the body. It extends for about 10-12 cm and includes internal branches, bulbs, and roots that surround the vagina. This internal structure plays a crucial role in female pleasure.

2. The clitoris is the most sensitive organ in the body

The clitoris has approximately 8,000 to 10,000 nerve endings, distributed over its entire surface, which makes it extremely sensitive to touch. In comparison, the penis contains only... 4,000. So, who is the stronger sex? ;)

3. The clitoris grows throughout life

Under the influence of hormones, the clitoris can evolve in size and sensitivity. For example, in the thirties, it will be four times larger than at puberty, and after menopause, it will have reached seven times its size since birth. These numbers seem impressive, but it should not be forgotten that, given its small size, this enlargement is ultimately barely visible.

4. The clitoris also has erections

The penis is not the only one to have an erection! Like it, the clitoris is made up of two corpora cavernosa, which swell with blood flow, under the effect of arousal. It will therefore harden then retract during orgasm, which causes the dispersion of accumulated blood. Moreover, just like the penis, the clitoris also has nocturnal erections...

5. All female mammals have a clitoris

The clitoris is not unique to the human species: all female mammals have one. But the differences in size are sometimes surprising. In certain primate species, its hood can reach about 5 cm, compared to a few millimeters in women. In the spotted hyena, it can measure up to 20 cm... to the point of having long been confused with a penis!
